Big post for the retirees of the yellow giant. At the end of September, the former employees of the Post received a letter with the heading: “Cancellation of staff vouchers for pensioners”.
Specifically, it is about two vouchers worth CHF 100 each, which were given every year in addition to the pension. For many a “nice touch”, as it is called from pensioner circles. The vouchers can be used, for example, to pay for public transport subscriptions or to shop in the post shop. Conversion into Reka-Checks is also possible.
But that will stop next year. And the outrage is correspondingly great. The tenor: “At the very bottom, savings are made”, while at the top almost million dollar salaries are paid.
Saved 3.5 million francs
The staff vouchers with a value of 200 francs are very popular. The approximately 20,000 entitled pensioners would have redeemed around 90 percent of the vouchers, according to the Post at the request of Blick: “The annual expenditure for the Post amounted to around 3.5 million francs.”
As the Post further writes in its letter to retirees, it wants to use discounts “in the future primarily for active employees”. The active ones continue to receive vouchers, nothing is left for the alumni, because the post office has to save. Or as it says in the letter: She wants to «secure this unique Swiss institution for the future».
Sweet reparation
The pensioners look twice in the tube due to the corona: The popular annual events for retirees had to be canceled this and last year. Swiss Post intends to focus more on these occasions in the future and is spending half a million francs on it every year.
That means: From 2022 Swiss Post will spend 60 francs per person and meal, which is 10 francs more than before. After all: As compensation for the failed meeting this year, there was a little sweet reparation from Confiserie Bachmann in Lucerne. Cost: a quarter of a million francs.
