“Tartuffe”, “trembling when he speaks”: Gérard Darmon tackles Edwy Plenel

A calm tone but a frank message. On the set of “We are live” on France 2 this Saturday evening, actor Gérard Darmon did not hesitate to tell Edwy Plenel, boss of Mediapart, what he thought of him.

If the actor did not raise his voice, retaining his characteristic hoarse tone, the message sent to the journalist was not very complimentary.

“He is a man who shakes when he speaks and that is something quite disturbing. I have the impression of hearing this speech for four centuries”, first launched Gérard Darmon.

Gérard Darmon felt that the message from Mediapart, carried by Edwy Plenel, initially “rather encouraging” like “a white knight who will flush out files”, had changed.

Describing Edwy Plenel as “the bogeyman of politics”, the actor felt that the journalist “knew everything and nothing else”.

All this with a “Tartuffe speech” and behavior “from time to time” worthy of “a judge, (of) a policeman”.

An attack deemed “personal”

At the end of the charge brought by Gérard Darmon, Edwy Plenel tried to answer his interlocutor, assuring him that the latter “did not know” him and that he was falling “into a caricature”.

Then, on his Twitter account, the co-founder of Mediapart even denounced a “personal attack” which “was actually aimed at journalism, at least that which investigates, seeks and reveals in the public interest”.

Not sure, however, that this is enough to put out the fire. This Sunday, the subject continued to occupy the trends of the social network Twitter.
