The annual Brit Awards will be presented on Tuesday evening. Taylor Swift will be honored with a special award this time.

Taylor Swift (31) receives a great honor: The American singer is the first woman to receive the “Global Icon” award at the annual Brit Awards. That was what the committee gave now announced on the official homepage of the event. But that’s not the only premiere that Swift is celebrating. In addition, she is the first non-British woman to receive this award. So far, only Elton John (74), David Bowie (1947-2016) and Robbie Williams (47) have been exclusively British winners.

However, Swift, who will not be attending the event in person, could still win a second prize that evening. In addition to singers such as Ariana Grande (27) and Miley Cyrus (28), the eleven-time Grammy winner has also been nominated for “Best International Artist”. She last won this trophy in 2015.

Brit Awards with 4,000 spectators in the arena

The Brit Awards will be held in Great Britain this year as a kind of pilot project. After months of Corona restrictions, guests can again attend a major event. A total of 4,000 spectators will be admitted to the O2 arena in London next Tuesday – around a fifth of the actual capacity. According to British media reports, over half of the tickets went to people in systemically important professions.
