Dramatic scenes played out on Monday lunchtime in Taiskirchen im Innkreis, Upper Austria: A 13-year-old VW Caddy caught fire, the driver (32) saved her son (3) from the burning car.

On Monday around 12 noon, a 32-year-old driver from the Ried district drove her car on the L1122 in Taiskirchen im Innkreis. Her three-year-old son was in the child seat on the back seat of the vehicle. Suddenly the woman noticed a strange smell in her vehicle and stopped to look. When the driver stopped her car, it was already smoking heavily from the hood. When she opened the bonnet, she found that the interior had already caught fire. 24 firefighters on dutyShe immediately notified the fire brigade and released her three-year-old son from the vehicle. The Taiskirchen and Tiefenbach-Wietraun fire brigades were deployed with a total of 24 firefighters to extinguish the vehicle, which was now completely on fire. The car burned out completely and could no longer be saved by the fire brigade. After extinguishing and clearing work, the road was cleared again after about two hours of use by the fire brigade. Presumably technical defect The on-site officials could not detect any signs of outside interference or arson on the car. It was probably a technical defect that triggered the fire. The 32-year-old and her three-year-old son were uninjured in the vehicle fire.
