A 17-year-old girl said she met the suspect, Romain C, a few hours before Vanesa’s murder. She delivers a chilling testimony to our colleagues from BFM TV.

The sordid murder of Vanesa, which occurred on Friday in Tonneins (Lot-et-Garonne), created great emotion in France. The main suspect is Romain C, a thirty-year-old father of a little girl. Tahlia, 17, said she was followed by the alleged murderer a few hours before the tragedy, and was frightened by his behavior, which she described as “bizarre”. “I was walking and I saw this man there, he started to slow down and he waved to me with a big smile. It was driving slowly, it was too weird and I was scared at the time.”

The young woman then decides to call her mother to inform her of the situation.. “I said to him, ‘Mom, someone honked at me and was too weird. He gave me a smile and he was going in slow motion'”. Worried, her mother advises her to take refuge with a friend. “I told him: take precautions, be careful, go take refuge with your girlfriend, because you never know who it could be”, revealed the mom.

Romain C remanded in custody

This testimony is very important for the investigators since it gives information on the hours which preceded the crime. In police custody, Romain C explained that he had spent Friday morning in his car. He was near teenage college.

When he noticed the victim, he did “forcibly enter his vehicle before quickly leaving the scene. Romain C was arrested the same evening and confessed to the murder of Vanesa. On Sunday, he was indicted for kidnapping, rape and murder of minors. The main suspect was subsequently remanded in custody.
