That’s never happened before! For the first time in the history of the Europa League, a team with eight points (!) was eliminated as the last team in the group.
It was an incredible showdown for promotion that ended with an insane final table. With Feyenoord Rotterdam, Midtjylland, Lazio Rom and Sturm Graz, each of the four teams in Group F took eight points. A novelty! Storm would have been enough for a point with the Danes for the round of 16 – and even a defeat would have been enough for a draw between Lazio and Feyenoord for the switch to the Conference League. But the Dutch defeated the Romans 1-0 and jumped from last to first place. In addition: Sturm lost the direct duel and has the worst goal difference of all teams. So there was only fourth place and the end in Europe with eight points – that’s never happened before!
