The Batman: Movie receives an official TV spin-off

If you want to see "The Batman", you have to be patient until 2021. The good thing: A TV series for the new movie is now planned.

The premiere of "The Batman" with Robert Pattinson (34) in the leading role is still over a year away, when director Matt Reeves (54) is already bagging the next deal. The movie, whose start was postponed to October 2021, is to receive a TV spin-off from video-on-demand service provider HBO Max. The US portal "Deadline" reports. According to Reeves again responsible for the series project, Terence Winter (59, "The Wolf of Wall Street") should write the script.

New world invites you to linger

Reeves seems to have already started thinking about the plot. The spin-off, a police drama series, is reported to be set in the same universe as the movie and is focused on corruption in Gotham City. It is not yet known whether Batman will also be part of the series.

The director explains: "This is a great opportunity not only to expand the view of the world that I create in the film, but to explore it in depth and detail that only a long format can do." HBO Max's Kevin Reilly (58) agrees. According to him, viewers in "The Batman" would never have seen anything like it. "And we know that fans want to spend more time in this new world that was inspired by the film."
