Launched in 2020, the Ford Mustang Mach-E is getting a new update to improve its charging speed, as well as its towing capacity.
It’s been two years since Ford’s electric SUV was born, but for now, the question of restyling is not yet on the table. Indeed, it usually takes a little longer before a car benefits from a facelift. The rise of remote updates nevertheless facilitates the work of manufacturers, who can improve their vehicles more easily.
We are thinking in particular of Tesla, which has been offering this technology for several years, but also Volvo or Volkswagen, which is deploying it gradually. But another brand has also recently offered it to its customers. This is Ford, which offers its new Mustang Mach-E the possibility of benefiting from improvements, without having to go back to the garage.
Faster charging
Among the improvements made to Ford’s first electric model, the most important, and undoubtedly the most awaited by customers and future buyers, concerns charging. According to the press release from the blue oval brand, the charging time has indeed been significantly reduced thanks to the update. It then takes precisely 37 minutes less than before to reach a capacity of 80 or even 90%.
A more than radical change, since this exercise now only requires about fifteen minutes, against more than 50 minutes so far. If the power peak always remains at 150 kW, it is higher on the last percentages, causing an acceleration of the load. What improve the user experience, but also convince the most reluctant who did not really want too much time at a terminal.
Better towing capacity
But that’s not all, because the Ford Mustang Mach-E is also developing another of its features, since the brand’s engineers have offered it increased towing capacity. Until then, the electric SUV, with two or four-wheel drive depending on the version, could tow up to 750 kg. A figure that now rises to a ton.
Fans of one-pedal driving, which is found on many electric models, will also be delighted to learn that this feature has been improved to increase comfort. This update is normally already available for download for current owners, while models leaving the factory are already equipped with it.
