Tired of your dreary black Joy-Cons or the all-too-common neon orange and blue pair? Nintendo has thought of you since the beginnings of the switch by offering many colors with more or less colorful combinations (purple and yellow, for example), often in homage to famous licenses, such as the yellow and blue duo inspired by Splatoon. Commemorative consoles have also emerged with colors of Joy-Cons, such as the Switch Mario (red and blue, therefore) or, closer to us, the special edition The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdompredominantly white and green.

Nintendo is now enriching its catalog with Joy-Cons that are a little more discreet than the average. Even if the summer trend is for exuberance, Big N plays the card of sobriety with pastel colors that are much less aggressive for the pupils, and which are reminiscent of the Switch Animal Crossing. Players can therefore replace their Joy-Cons with two pairs of pink and yellow or green and purple, which can be mixed and matched with the oldest or recent colors.

Nothing new under the dress

These Joy-Cons adopt a new color, but the technologies used are the same. This wouldn’t be a problem if they weren’t so fragile and subject to the phenomenon of drifting. We remember that many players had to replace their Joy-Cons, which did not respond satisfactorily. Ditto, the new controllers do not embed Hall technology which uses magnetism and therefore eliminates any risk of the appearance of drifting.

Let’s hope that the new Joy-Cons (80 € all the same and available from June 30) will be a little more solid than the first versions, even if Nintendo has recently undertaken to replace defective products free of charge, including out of warranty.
