Ideal for breakfast or afternoon tea, this water cake can be prepared in no time. A real breeze, you will only need very few ingredients. To your aprons!

The ingredients to make the water cake recipe

  • 175 g white flour T 45
  • 50 g potato starch
  • 250 g of water
  • 1/2 squeezed lemon
  • 1/2 sachet of vanilla yeast or, failing that, organic yeast for cake and a few drops of vanilla
  • 50 g neutral taste oil (sunflower, peanut, rapeseed) or coconut oil
  • 150 g brown or whole cane sugar

You can replace the lemon juice with orange juice, the water with fruit juice (unsweetened), add the flavors of your choice, or even add a little bitter cocoa powder.

Steps to prepare the water cake

1. Reheat the oven to 180 ° C.

2. In a container, make a fountain with the flour and potato starch.

3. In the center, pour the water, the oil, lemon juice and dilute the sugar in it. Mix.

4. Finally add the vanilla yeast and mix until you get a smooth, homogeneous dough without lumps.

5. Pour the preparation into a silicone mold about 20 cm in diameter. If you use an iron or other mold, remember to oil the bottom with a little flour so that the cake does not stick.

6. Bake at 180 ° C for 40 minutes.

7. Wait for the cake to cool before removing it from the mold. Finally, sprinkle with icing sugar or grated coconut.

The water cake keeps 2 to 3 days at room temperature covered with a glass bell.
