The tortured universe of American McGee’s Alice will be adapted into a TV series by David Hayter


Known by many players as the voice of Solid Snake but also recognized for his work as a screenwriter on films like X-Men, watch men and wolves, David Hayter will be responsible for this adaptation in partnership with Abandon Entertainment. As often with this kind of adaptations, the announcement takes place as soon as the contract is signed, with very little additional information, in particular about the platforms that will broadcast the series, the actors involved or its positioning in relation to the events told in American McGee’s Alice (2000) and its sequel Alice: Madness Returns (2011).

The starting point of the series, however, seems similar to the vision of the games and will begin as Alice returns from her trip to the other side of the looking glass to find her house engulfed in flames…and her parents with it. After several suicide attempts, the young girl is locked up in a psychiatric hospital where she is slowly wasting away before being called back to Wonderland by the White Rabbit, a country that no longer really lives up to its name.

According to McGee’s year in review, a small team is still working on a design bible (bible design) which aims to detail what the game would be like (story, gameplay ideas) in a minimum of 250 pages, all fueled by numerous illustrations like those that already appear regularly on the account Twitter of the author and which accompany this article. This large document will then be sent to publishers but also freely accessible to the public.
