Two months after having their cat euthanized, a family discovered that she was in fact still alive. The animal had been adopted by another family from the veterinarian who had signed the euthanasia certificate.
A cat back from the dead. In the Var, a family lived an incredible story by discovering by chance on Instagram that the pussy they had euthanized two months earlier was actually still alive.
It all started when the two-year-old feline was hit by a car last May, and found himself in critical condition, reports France Bleu. In view of his state of health, the owners had finally determined to make her sting. They then took the animal to a veterinary clinic in Hyères where they settled the euthanasia, without however attending the operation.A certificate was also sent to them to attest to the act.
An identical cat with the same name
What was their surprise when, two months later, the daughter of the family discovered on Instagram “an announcement from a lady who said that she had lost her cat in Hyères”. An incredible surprise because the animal looked like two drops of water to the one she and her parents thought they had euthanized. Even more disturbing coincidence, the pussy also had the same name.
The family therefore quickly decided to contact the person behind the announcement in order to solve the mystery. The latter first told them that she had found the animal, and explained to them that she had “adopted this little cat a short time ago in a veterinary clinic in Hyères. Her masters had abandoned her after a serious car accident.. After collecting this information, which left no room for doubt, the former owners went to the veterinarian who had performed the euthanasia to ask for an explanation.
Euthanasia never practiced
She confirmed to them that it was their cat, which reportedly miraculously recovered from injuries after filing official paperwork. “She was vague in her explanations, she never imagined that we could find her”confided the daughter of the family, quoted by France Bleu, before adding: “She said to herself that as our pain had passed, she did not see us call back to tell us that finally our pussy was better. We felt betrayed. He’s our cat, like a member of the family. One day it’s there and the next day it’s gone. While in reality, she was still there.“
The cat was eventually returned to its original owners, who decided not to file a complaint, reports Nice Matin. For her part, the veterinarian, who had collected payment for euthanasia that she never performed, would have undertaken to provide free care to the animal throughout its life in compensation. “What she can’t repay is the pain we felt when we had to put her down.”however, concluded the daughter of the family.
