Tokyo: Japanese pilgrims to the Kanda Myojin Shrine

The annual rush is so great that employees from around 2500 companies reserved their pilgrimage to the Kanda Myojin Shrine near Tokyo’s banking and business districts Otemachi and Marunouchi in advance, as the daily newspaper “Asahi Shimbun” reported on Tuesday.

After far fewer companies than usual sent their employees to the Shinto shrine last year due to the corona pandemic, the number will again be around 10,000 this year by the end of January, the newspaper quoted a shrine employee as saying. Many shrine visitors appeared in suits and ties on Tuesday, the first day of work.
