On April 1st, Tori Spelling announced that she was pregnant again. Many thought it was an April Fool’s joke – and they were right.

Tori Spelling (47, “Beverly Hills, 90210”) already has five children with her husband Dean McDermott (54). The US actress announced on April 1st then via Instagramthat a sibling for Beau (born 2017), Hattie (born 2011), Finn (born 2012), Stella (born 2008) and Liam (born 2007) is on the way. But it was an April Fool’s joke. Spelling now explains why she first told the world that she was pregnant again.

She wanted to show that with her picture

Every week the press asks her if she is pregnant, Spelling writes in a statement on Instagram. She explains directly: “To clear up any misunderstandings: I am not.” After her fifth child, her body has changed once and she feels “as if I have to constantly defend my body when instead I should honor it for giving me the miracle of life five times”.

While many followers congratulated, numerous other fans had previously speculated that it could be an April Fool’s joke. There was also criticism. Spelling knows that pregnancy is a blessing and that she would never deliberately joke about the loss of a child or about not being able to have a baby. You yourself suffered a miscarriage.

Spelling’s intention was to draw attention to constant, public body shamming to which she was exposed. Again and again “wild and often painful stories about me, my body and my family” circulated. The actress wants to encourage all concerned: “I welcome your stories and I will try my best to support you.” Your lines should therefore be understood as a “virtual hug” to your community.
