TP-Link is announcing its best-equipped WLAN router at CES and is boasting of the Ethernet connections on the Archer AX300: The device has two ports that manage 10 Gbit / s, one of which is a combo port (RJ45 / SFP +) so that you can the device can also operate on fiber optics with more than 1000 Mbit / s with a suitable SFP + module. Four gigabit ports and one for multigigabit Ethernet (NBase-T) up to 2.5 Gbit / s complete the LAN connections.
On the WLAN side, the AXE300 has four radio modules that work with four MIMO streams in accordance with Wi-Fi 6: One reaches a maximum of 1150 Mbit / s gross in the 2.4 GHz band, the other three achieve up to 4800 Mbit / s. Two of them work in different blocks of the 5 GHz band and the last in the recently released 6 GHz range. More is not currently possible in terms of radio.
A USB 3.2 Gen1 port – formerly USB 3.0 – can be used to connect a mass storage device, the content of which is made available by the router in the (W) LAN. An unspecified quad-core CPU clocked at 2 GHz takes care of the data transfer. Whether, when and at what price the AXE300 will be available on the local market was still open when this report was written.
