Novak Djokovic makes his (mini) mea-culpa. The world number one, at the heart of a controversy since his arrival in Australia a week ago, admitted on Wednesday that he had committed a “human error, certainly not deliberate”. He had notably declared, wrongly, not to have traveled during the 14 days preceding his flight to Australia. “We live in difficult times in a global pandemic, and sometimes mistakes happen”, tried to justify himself as the world number one in a message posted on Instagram, apologizing “sincere”… from his agent.
Castex discusses with the political parties a presidential election under Covid. The Prime Minister on Tuesday set up a forum for dialogue with the various political parties to discuss the upcoming presidential election. The participants notably asked for campaign costs linked to Covid-19 to be taken into account, highlighting the need for larger rooms and the distribution of masks. For the time being, relying on constitutional law which protects freedom of assembly, the executive has ruled out imposing any restrictions on political rallies, placing the responsibility on the organizers.
Sanitary passes deactivated en masse from Saturday. They have until January 15, the deadline set by the government, to carry out their recall, otherwise their health pass will be withdrawn. In Hong Kong, a new attack on freedoms to come. On Wednesday, Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam announced that she will soon introduce legislation that will include new “national security” offences. The new text will contain around forty new offenses, without further details having been given on their content, in addition to the current law imposed in 2020 by Beijing on secession, subversion, terrorism and collusion with foreign powers.

The text has already been largely revised, the high assembly having notably removed the possibility for owners of cafes, bars and restaurants to verify the identity of pass holders.
