Donald Trump has announced its own social media platform. Even before the start, things go haywire there.

Former US President Donald Trump (75) has announced that he will start his own social network “Truth Social” in the coming year. However, Internet users could already gain access to a preliminary version of the platform, register there and do all sorts of jokes.

Several trumps and a pence

Mikael Thalen from “The Daily Dot” managed to create the account @donaldtrump, as he shows in a tweet. “Although the site is not yet officially open, a URL has been discovered that allows users to register anyway,” he explains.

Drew Harwell of the Washington Post meanwhile registered as trumps former Vice President Mike Pence, 62. Another unknown user secured the account @donaldjtrump and published a meme of a pooping pig on behalf of the ex-president, as Harwell reports. Another user registered the username @jack, which Twitter inventor Jack Dorsey (44) uses on his own platform and, according to media reports, reacted to an insult from the @ donaldjtrump account. Access to “Truth Social” should no longer be usable.

Legal problems?

There should be an official test phase in November. Until then, however, the new network should also address possible legal concerns. According to screenshots he saw, “Truth Social” is based on “Mastodon”, explains Eugen Rochko “Vice”. The developer is the brain behind the free software that enables you to create your own social networks.

The terms of use of “Truth Social” currently state that the source code of the network is protected by copyright. That “would be a problem”, according to Rochko, because it is a violation of the rules of use of the license under which “Mastodon” was published. Rochko states that the main part of the license consists of making the source code and all modifications to it public.

After the violent storming of the Capitol in Washington, Trump was banned from platforms such as Twitter and Facebook at the beginning of the year. A blog later set up for Trump with the title “From the Desk of Donald J. Trump” was taken offline after about a month.
