TwitchCon: Cocorico, the big winners of the Twitch Rivals are French-speaking!

After being canceled due to the coronavirus, TwitchCon Amsterdam was finally here from July 16 to 17, 2022. On the program? A two-day convention showcasing Amazon’s streaming platform. The event also allowed many streamers to meet sometimes for the first time. The opportunity was therefore too good not to have them compete in a competition that could be described as original but also completely eccentric.

New Twitch Rivals

To mark the occasion, it was also the return of the Twitch Rivals Ultimate Challenge“the biggest competition ever held at TwitchCon”.

32 duos of streamers competed in various challenges as wacky as they are funny. To pass the qualifications, there were four tests:

  • Don’t Wake Nanny (IRL): Make the highest pile of toys possible without ever getting caught by the nanny.
  • Streamer Stew (IRL): Collect fruit toys before throwing them into baskets trying to score the most points.
  • Overcooked 2 (LAN): A game of skill in which you have to get on well with your partner to prevent chaos from creeping into the kitchen.
  • Operation: Tango (LAN): A cooperative adventure around the world of espionage where good communication is essential.

After passing this first stage, the 8 remaining duos met a few hours later to try to win a place for the final stages on Sunday.

A 100% French-speaking final

The least we can say is that French speakers shone during these Twitch Rivals. Of particular note is the performance of Pumice and Ultia who managed to climb into the Top 6, but also that of BagheraJones and Clara Doxal who have been through to the final stages of the competition.

Finally, two French-speaking duos reached the grand final on Sunday afternoon: jeel and uncle in front of skyyart and Guill. The ultimate test was already found: fill a glass of water to the brim without ever spilling a drop on the side (it’s not a joke).

After minutes under high tension for… a glass of water, it was finally the team of Tonton and Jeel who won the Twitch Rivals of TwitchCon. They therefore win the tidy sum of $25,000 as well as a nice trophy to take home.

Once again, the Francophonie has proven that it is very present on the front of the Twitch stage. After the PixelWar, the ZEvent or the Twitch Rivals, the FR community still seems to have a bright future ahead of it!

When we talk about records on Twitch, we mainly think of the number of viewers or even the frenzied speedruns during which records fall one after the other. But we French people like to innovate and the streamer Terracid has managed to achieve an (improbable) feat thanks to its community.
