Vacation despite Covid-19: Interactive map shows where the pandemic situation is easing

Air travel: According to the new Corona Entry Ordinance of May 12, all air travelers, regardless of which country they come from, must present one of the following three equivalent documents to the airline before their return journey:

• a negative corona test (PCR or medical certificate)

• a vaccination certificate *

• a proof of recovery *

Airlines are not allowed to take passengers with them without one of these receipts. This means: If the test result is positive, travelers in the holiday country are first under quarantine.

Risk area: Anyone returning to Germany from a risk area must also register at www.einreiseanmeldung.de before entering Germany. We confirm this with a PDF file. Carriers must check whether passengers can present this confirmation. The ten-day quarantine at home can only be avoided by those who have received a negative test certificate, a recovery certificate or a vaccination certificate via the entry portal of the Federal Republic of Germany before entering the country www.einreiseanmeldung.de to transfer. Otherwise, the ten-day quarantine at home must be started. It can only be ended prematurely with a negative test, a recovery or vaccination certificate.

High incidence area: For those returning from a high-incidence area, the following applies: Ten-day quarantine, which can only be ended prematurely with a negative test or proof of recovery or vaccination. Free testing is possible, but only five days after entry at the earliest – so there are five days of quarantine.

Virus variant area: There are even stricter rules for returnees from a virus variant area. A 14-day quarantine is required here. This cannot be terminated prematurely with a test or with proof of recovery or vaccination.

Danger: The regulations can vary from state to state.

More info: The RKI list of all risk, high incidence and virus variant areas can be found at www.rki.de/Risikogebiete

* In this context, travelers whose second vaccination took place at least 14 days ago are considered fully vaccinated. Travelers whose Sars-CoV-2 infection was at least 28 days ago are considered to have recovered.
