The Wacken Open Air 2022 is already sold out. There will therefore be no regular advance booking for the metal festival.

Also this year the Wacken Open Air had to be canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. The metal fans do not let their heads hang, however: The festival is already sold out next year. 95 percent of this year’s ticket holders kept their admission tickets in the exchange process, as the organizers announced on Friday. The few remaining tickets will be raffled on a waiting list. There will be no regular advance sales for Wacken Open Air 2022, which will take place from August 4th to 6th.

Holger Hübner, Managing Director of WOA Festival GmbH, is “more than touched by the support that we have received from our fans over the past few months”. He thanks the loyal “Metalheads” who have kept their tickets: It is “an honor to be able to organize events for you”. His partner Thomas Jensen sees the sold out W: O: A 2022 as a “signal that people – just like us – are hungry for live music”.

“Bullhead City” festival in September

This year, however, Wacken cannot do entirely without heavy metal: The makers of the world’s largest open-air metal event are organizing the “Bullhead City” festival for the first time from September 16 to 18 – with a hygiene concept and limited capacity. Big names like Nightwish, Blind Guardian and Powerwolf will perform there. At Wacken Open Air 2022, Judas Priest, Slipknot, Limp Bizkit and Till Lindemann (58) will be on stage.
