Was already dazed – firefighter freed woman from smoking car


A 54-year-old firefighter from Winklern freed an already dazed woman (34) from Lienz from her smoking car in the crossing area of ​​Mölltalstrasse and used a fire extinguisher to prevent a vehicle fire. The woman was taken to the Lienz district hospital.

The woman from Lienz was driving her car at 8:20 a.m. on the B 106 Mölltalstraße in the direction of Winklern when the interior of the vehicle suddenly began to fill with smoke. The woman then wanted to turn off the main road onto a local road in order to park the vehicle safely. The car’s overheated engine then died in the Winklern intersection, whereupon the woman tried several times to restart the engine and inhaled smoke.

Fireman noticed smoke and intervened
Fortunately, the incident was observed by a 54-year-old volunteer fire brigade member. The man rushed to the vehicle, freed the already dazed woman and used fire extinguishers to extinguish the engine in the vehicle. A vehicle fire could be prevented. After the first aid measures had taken place, the woman was brought to the BKH Lienz by the Winklern ambulance.
