FranceConnect: an ongoing scam by telephone

We know the many scams by SMS or emails, but phone calls are also to be monitored. People are currently posing as FranceConnect agents in an attempt to retrieve information. NEWS reports the testimonies of several victims. One of them was contacted by a woman claiming to work for FranceConnect: “She told me that I had to finalize my registration on the platform”. She then gave him her first and last name and told him that she was born in June 1997 but without giving the day, which put a flea in his ear. Another person received a call asking him to complete his social security number after giving only the first three digits.

In 2022, FranceConnect was forced to disconnect from Ameli (social security) after numerous scams. In May, 1,400 members of the Mutualité sociale agricole were victims of identity theft on the online service. FranceConnect recommends today to never communicate sensitive personal information such as identity, account ID, password or social security number by SMS, email or phone until people have been authenticated with certainty. It also invites you to verify the use that is made of your online identity with notification emails received by connecting via FranceConnect and in the login history on the site’s dashboard.
