WhatsApp would like to have more control over the forwarding of chat messages. In some cases, messages should no longer be able to be forwarded to several groups at the same time. WhatsApp wants to limit spam and fake news.

WhatsApp Messages: Forwarding will be restricted

WhatsApp has released a new beta version for Android. It’s just a minor update, but this brings with it a crucial innovation. In the future, it shouldn’t be as easy as before to quickly forward messages to multiple groups. WhatsApp restricts the function if the corresponding message has already been forwarded to you. If this is then to be distributed to groups again, WhatsApp no longer allows this.

It is still possible to forward messages that have already been forwarded – you just have to manually for each group individually carried out (source: WABetaInfo). With this step, WhatsApp probably wants to prevent groups from being bombarded with the same messages over and over again. Users should no longer blindly post everything in various groups at the same time.

WhatsApp already had one about two years ago introduced first restriction on redirects. If messages have already been forwarded more than four times, they can no longer be forwarded so easily. This is indicated by a special symbol. Here, too, blind distribution to different groups is no longer possible.

WhatsApp: Restricted forwarding not official yet

Currently the only restriction is the Beta version of the Android variant by whatsapp. Facebook, as the operator of the Messenger app, has not yet introduced the change in the final version of WhatsApp, but is currently only testing it. However, it can be assumed that it will soon become the new standard.
