where will the Pride Walk 2020 take place?

The event will take place in some cities in France. For canceled events, virtual alternatives are planned.

June around the world is Pride Month. This is a time of year to highlight LGBT + people, that is, people who do not find themselves in heterosexual "classic" sexuality. This month of highlighting and celebrating is important for people who are often discriminated against. In 2019, the police and gendarmerie forces identified 1,870 victims of homophobic or transphobic offenses, compared to 1,380 in 2018.
Why June? Because this is where in 1969 the LGBT + movement emerged strongly in the media. Indeed, riots broke out in New York, triggered by a violent police raid in a bar in Greenwich Village, frequented by LGBT + people. These events are considered the first example of the struggle of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people against a system supported by the authorities and persecuting non-heterosexual people.

The pride march is therefore an important event to remind the need for struggles for the rights of these people. However, the Covid 19 crisis shattered many rallies until September and the Pride March is no exception. Indeed, in many cities, this walk brings together more than 5000 people and is therefore not allowed to take place for health reasons. There was no question, however, of making the struggles going on invisible.
