Why MW2 Remastered’s multiplayer didn’t see the light of day

Famous Call of Duty leaker Tom Henderson recently spoke about why Modern Warfare 2 Remastered’s multiplayer never saw the light of day.

Released in 2009, Modern Warfare 2 remains to this day one of the most popular games in the history of the historic franchise. This game even managed to dethrone CoD 4: Modern Warfare and revolutionize the FPS genre.

And over the past few years, there have been plenty of rumors about a remastered version of the game. Activision even released an updated version of the campaign in 2020, but the multiplayer portion of the game has stuck on old-gen consoles despite plans. apparent indicating that it should have seen the light of day on the consoles of the new generation.

According to famed leaker Tom Henderson, when the developers of Infinity Ward were laying the groundwork to release MW2 Remastered, the fact that the current opus was Modern Warfare 2019 totally compromised their plans.

He explains : “Yes, Modern Warfare 2 Remastered multiplayer was in development, and the reason it was cut off from reality was that Infinity Ward and Activision didn’t want this game to overshadow MW2019 since it was planned. let him go out next door.

However, all is not lost for all that with Modern Warfare 2 Remastered since the new CoD of this year should be called Modern Warfare 2. It is also highly possible that this new opus contains a certain number of elements of MW2R which was under development.

Activision

Some original maps from MW2 could be incorporated into this year’s new CoD.

A large part of the resources that were created for MW2R will now be transferred to MW2 2022. Some elements, like the original maps as well as other different aspects will be transferred in this new Call of Duty.

So while MW2 Remastered seems unlikely to arrive anytime soon, gamers can still get their fix of the classic game through this year’s new CoD if those leaks turn out to be true.
