Microsoft is not ready to deploy it yet, but a new task manager is about to arrive on Windows 11. It takes up the Fluent Design of the OS and will also offer a dark mode.
Microsoft is planning a redesign of the task manager. That’s what you learn from studying engineering Gustav Monce, who discovered a whole new look for the manager in the dark recesses of recent builds of Windows 11. Like many other tools, the task manager is about to adopt the aesthetic codes of the new Fluent Design of the OS. It should also offer a dark mode.
Remember that this utility had not been redesigned with the deployment of the latest version of Windows… it thus retained the appearance that we had known for years. Gradually, however, Microsoft dust applications that had so far remained “in their own juice”. This was recently the case with Windows Media Player, but also with Notepad.
The new task manager… is not ready yet
Note that it is possible to activate this new Task Manager by installing the latest preliminary versions of Windows 11, but Microsoft clearly does not intend to facilitate access to it immediately.
” It’s a hidden feature in the new build “Explains Gustave Monce, before specifying that at this time the application is not yet fully functional. Understand that this new manager is still far from being finalized. That said, we now discover a dark mode, and the main aesthetic characteristics of Windows 11: rounded corners, pastel shades and a concern for simplification, notes The Verge.
More refined, the new version of the task manager is also distinguished by the abandonment of the tabs of the current version for a sidebar similar to that of the Settings of Windows 11. However, we find the same sections “Process”, “Performance” , “Application History”, etc. It is therefore difficult to be lost.
Note that Microsoft has not yet officially announced this redesign, so it is not known when it will be deployed on a large scale on Windows 11.
