Wolfgang Fierek is celebrating his 70th birthday. Why there is traditionally caviar at the jubilee festival has to do with his first trip to the USA.

Actor ("Somehow and Somehow") and pop singer ("Resi, I pick you up with my tractor") Wolfgang Fierek will celebrate his 70th birthday tomorrow, Wednesday (December 9). Why he traditionally has caviar at the cradle festival has to do with his first trip to the USA, as he explains in an interview with the Munich "Abendzeitung" newspaper.

"When I flew to America for the first time in my life, I was lucky because the stewardess from Munich was a previous love of mine. She kindly promoted me to first class and provided me with caviar. It was such an incredible thing A feeling of happiness triggered in me, plus the anticipation for America – that's why I've always been celebrating this on my birthday ever since, "says the native of Ottobrunner.

The caviar is ready in the fridge. "I spoon 150 to 200 grams away by myself – and enjoy every bite," says Fierek. There are also "blinis, chopped onions, chopped eggs, of course champagne and vodka" since he met a Russian in a Munich restaurant in 1979 who explained to him how to eat caviar properly.

"I enjoy the moment and try to live age-consciously"

Wolfgang Fierek takes good care of himself and his body. "I now take a little more time for everything, pay attention to my figure, sometimes only drink a glass of wine and not three," he says. In addition, his wife (since 1994) Djamila Mendil (born 1966) "loves all the organic healthy stuff, I like to take part".

In addition to a sensible diet, sufficient exercise is also on the agenda. "Since Corona raged, I canceled my membership in the gym – now I have a lot of machines at home. I get on the cross trainer five times a week, curse and abuse it at the beginning, but after that I feel better," he says. He is not afraid of dying. "I enjoy the moment and try to live age-consciously," says the down-to-earth artist.

His wife had Corona

Corona naturally also overshadows his birthday. "Now I am staying at home more, but that works wonderfully," says Fierek, "I wish there weren't so many unreasonable people". Then he tells how close the illness got to him. "My wife had Corona at the end of January, when you weren't even familiar with it. She was at a stone fair in Arizona, I was already in Germany. She had severe shortness of breath for three days, then it was over," he remembers. But he does not lose his confidence: "Corona pack ma too," says the pre-birthday child.
