If you’ve never heard of it, know that it will endanger a very specific element of your content, and you won’t necessarily like it.
Xbox says goodbye to old screenshots and video clips
Don’t worry, we’re not talking about a big problem that requires an urgent response. The rule concerns screenshots and video clips taken during your gaming escapades. Normally, the firm’s consoles are configured to automatically save the screenshots or videos on Microsoft’s public servers. So, everyone can access it via the Xbox Network. But a big change will soon impact this part of the system.
Indeed, you may have quite old screenshots lying around on the servers. If they are older than 90 days, starting tomorrow, they will be deleted. This decision was taken in an effort to reduce pressure on Microsoft’s servers. Therefore, if you want to save your cherished screenshots or video clips from death on your Xbox, now is the time to do it. In addition, it is not a very complicated process, far from it.
Afterwards, for the moment, we do not know what form the deletion will take on Xbox. Will there be a final warning message? Will it happen in waves or instantly? It would be strange if it happened in the blink of an eye without warning. Not to mention that there are players who aren’t even aware of what’s going on. We will have the answer shortly.
In the future, if you want to keep screenshots for more than 90 days, you will need to find an alternative solution. In particular, you can publish them on the OneDrive platform or put them on an external hard drive. All you have to do is modify the settings to prevent it from being published by default on the Xbox Network, and rather on one of the two options just mentioned. In any case, it will soon be the end of an era for many screenshots or video clips. Some of them are probably several years old, and for some players, it will be hard to say goodbye to them (if they don’t do the manipulation).
