While Xiaomi presented its new Redmi K60, Redmi K60 Pro, Redmi K60E and Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition smartphones in China on Tuesday, the manufacturer took the opportunity to unveil some accessories. In addition to the Redmi Band 2 bracelet and the Redmi Watch 3 watch, the Chinese firm has also unveiled a new pair of wireless headphones, the Xiaomi Redmi Buds 4 Lite.

These new entry-level headphones are particularly classic in their approach with a rod format and an open-fit architecture, without in-ear tips, like Apple’s AirPods 3. The headphones are featherweight with only 3.9 grams on the scale.

The headphones obviously benefit from a quick pairing function with Xiaomi smartphones with at least version 12 of MIUI. They are also compatible with version 5.3 of the Bluetooth standard. If Xiaomi does not communicate on the Bluetooth audio codecs supported by the Redmi Buds 4 Lite, we can easily count on the two most common on the market, namely the SBC and the AAC.

Large transducers for good bass reproduction

Inevitably, in the absence of passive isolation and in-ear tips, the Redmi Buds 4 Lite ignore active noise reduction while listening. However, they compensate for their lack of passive insulation and the sound leaks that can result from it with large transducers 12 mm in diameter. Enough to ensure a good reproduction of the bass. In addition, noise reduction is indeed present for calls, to ensure that the microphones focus on your voice and do not disturb your interlocutor.

For touch controls integrated into the keys, Xiaomi offers double tap to pause the music, triple tap to skip to the next track and long press to activate the low latency of gaming mode. The headphones are also IP54 certified and are therefore protected against splashes, rain or sweat. Finally, regarding autonomy, Xiaomi announces up to 20 hours of use with the case and 5 hours with the Redmi Buds 4 Lite alone. The case also charges only via USB-C and does not include wireless charging.

Announced only in China for the moment, the Redmi Buds 4 Lite are offered there in orange, green, white or black at a price of 139 yuan, or 19 euros excluding tax. No marketing has yet been announced in France.
