Zattoo: Soon you’ll be able to simply skip the TV advert – at no additional cost

Time-shift television is available from streaming provider Zattoo under the name Replay-TV. Now even the skipping of advertising is introduced in the Ultimate subscription – but not everywhere.

In Switzerland, Zattoo will soon offer the option of skipping advertising.

  • TV streaming provider Zattoo offers time-shift television in its Premium and Ultimate subscriptions.
  • You can watch content you have already watched for up to seven days.
  • On September 27th, Ultimate customers will have a function to skip advertising – but only in Switzerland for the time being.

You can watch TV programs that have already been broadcast on Zattoo up to seven days after the broadcast date using the paid subscription models Premium and Ultimate. For the so-called Replay-TV there is now a revolutionary new function from September 27th:

Logically, skipping commercial blocks is not possible on live TV – but this dream of a generation of TV viewers is now coming true on time-shift television: If you have booked the Ultimate tariff, you can simply skip the commercial block with one click.

However, the great disappointment for Zattoo customers in Germany follows immediately: the new skip function was initially only announced by the provider for Ultimate subscriptions in Switzerland. Zattoo did not mention whether something similar should be implemented for the much larger German market.

Zattoo Premium: Replay TV soon with additional advertising

More advertising will be visible in the Zattoo premium subscription, but only when using Replay-TV in Switzerland. In the future, a seven-second advertising clip will be shown at the beginning of time-shifted television.

Zattoo explains the additional advertising with the entry into force of the industry agreement “Gemeinsamer Tarif 12” in Switzerland, due to which time-shift television is associated with additional costs for all providers in Switzerland, which they pass on to customers in a self-chosen manner. In return, Zattoo has announced that it will not raise its subscription costs for tariffs with Replay TV, unlike other providers.
