HC Lugano – ZSC Lions 2: 3 (0: 1, 2: 1, 0: 1). 3479 spectators. – Gates: 20. Geering (Bodenmann, Roe) 0: 1, 26.Arcobello (Carr, Loeffel) 1: 1, 32. Josephs (Arcobello, Alatalo / Exclusion of Bodenmann) 2: 1, 36. Quenneville (Azevedo, Geering) 2: 2, 48. Kruger (Geering, Quenneville) 2: 3. – Although the Zurich team did not play consistently over 60 minutes, they still win. Against a tough but insufficiently efficient HC Lugano, the ZSC managed their sixth victory in a row.

This is how the game went: Lugano and the ZSC are in the duel for sixth place, which is the last to qualify for a direct play-off. For Chris McSorley’s team, this is the first game since December 23, a few corona cases led to a forced break – and slowed down a good run. In December, Lugano won five out of six games.

Despite the long break, the Luganesi immediately found a high rhythm, even without loud support from the audience; In Ticino, the standing room sectors are currently closed as a pandemic protection measure.

The Zurich team got off to a better start and took the lead shortly before the first break – the goal was in the air. But like on Sunday against Bern, the ZSC dismantled in the second third, hardly shoots at the goal and lets the opponent roll over them. The consequences are not long in coming: First, Marc Arcobello scores the equalizer, then the Zurich team receive three penalties in quick succession, of which Troy Josephs uses the third to give the Ticino a well-deserved lead. John Quenneville, however, quickly gave the Ticino players another damper with a deflected shot with the 2-2 equalizer, which turned the game on its head in this section of the game.

The Ticino team had to be even more annoyed in the 48th minute: Romain Loeffel was unable to move the pane in front of the goal, which Marcus Krüger quickly punished the Lions 3-2. And it stays that way. The Zurich team succeeds – again as on Sunday – the necessary increase in the third third. Thus they also win the third duel of the season against Lugano. They now have six wins in a row and are sixth in the table with a comfortable lead over the Luganesi.

The schedule of the ZSC Lions is currently particularly dense. The 3-2 in Lugano was the first of four games that will be played until next Tuesday. It continues on Saturday against the newly promoted Ajoie. (pic.)

Haas (at 5 against 3) 8: 7. – In Biel, 6,039 spectators saw what was possibly the most spectacular game of the season. EHC Biel were down 0: 3 against Bern after twelve minutes, were also three times behind with two goals (2: 4, 3: 5, 4: 6), but ultimately won 8: 7 in overtime.

This is how the game went: Biel only led once – at the very end of the game. Gaëtan Haas scored the winning goal in double majority after 63:20 minutes. Two Berners sat in the penalty box because Captain Simon Moser committed a foul and coach Johan Lundskog then complained that they were far beyond tolerable.

The frustration of the city of Bern was understandable. For a long time they looked like the sure winners – because EHC Biel played so weakly on the defensive as rarely. But the SCB adapted to the defensive meander – and so left the Bieler back into the game again and again.

One of the losers of the evening was Bern’s second goalkeeper Daniel Manzato, who was allowed to play again for the first time since December 10, but was replaced after conceding five goals. Both teams changed the goalie.

Biel also won the fourth game in the new year, while Bern only won two of the last nine games. (sda)
