The die should have been cast: According to the media, ZDF presenter Aline Abboud will succeed Pinar Atalay on the ARD “Tagesthemen”.

The successor to the outgoing Pinar Atalay (43) as the new face of the ARD news magazine “Tagesthemen” seems to have been found: As “Bild am Sonntag” learned from an allegedly “reliable source”, Aline Abboud (33) will be the new moderator there. Abboud is currently working for numerous ZDF formats, including as the spokesperson for “heute Xpress”. Now the change to the first should take place.

Aline Abboud was born in East Berlin in 1988 as the daughter of a German and a Lebanese. Until 2013 she studied Arabic at the University of Leipzig and already worked for various media during her studies. After an internship at the German Bundestag, she switched to ZDF.

Pinar Atalay switches to RTL

At the beginning of June it became known that the previous “Tagesthemen” presenter Pinar Atalay was moving to the private broadcaster RTL on August 1st, in order to play a central role in developing the information and news offerings there. Atalay has been a moderator for the “Tagesthemen” since 2014.
