With his m17 R5 presented as “ the most powerful amd laptop in the world Alienware thinks big when it comes to laptop performance. In addition to using the latest and best mobile components from the founder, the brand now offers a screen with an excessively high refresh rate.
How far will they go? 480 Hz in Full HD: here is the new screen option offered by Dell on its Alienware m17 R5 and X17 R2 laptops. With a refresh rate that would almost make you dizzy, it targets, as you will have understood, inveterate players looking for performance.
Alienware pushes the bar even further
The industry is not lacking in resources to find new challenges and then design innovative products. As a marker of the launch of the AMD Advantage version of the m17 R5, Alienware is now offering a new display option that surpasses the 360Hz one offered last year.
The two monsters that are the Alienware m17 R5 and x17 R2 laptops are now available with four different screen models. There are three Full HD variants from 165 to 480 Hz as well as a 4K UHD screen with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Unsurprisingly, this last option greatly increases the price of the configuration: the 480 Hz screen costs “only” 300 euros more compared to the 165 Hz version.
New panel, new GPU
The arguments of the American manufacturer are already well established to highlight the virtues of such a refresh rate: “ The Alienware m17 R5 delivers extreme speeds and response times so you can play your favorite titles with smooth gameplay, you’ll feel like gaming has become an extension of your senses. »
Despite everything, the list of competitive games that can take full advantage of the capabilities of this panel is probably not very large. Are we moving towards screens whose capabilities go beyond those of the human eye? The question remains unresolved. Anyway, it is an excellent springboard to propel the other novelty of the day, to see on the side of the graphics card!
As noted above, this new panel option coincides with the launch of the m17 R5 Advantage Edition. This model is now available with the latest Radeon RX 6850M XT graphics card and benefits from all the technologies implemented by AMD such as SmartShift Max, SmartAccess Graphics and Smart Access Memory. The 480 Hz option is however available both on this 100% AMD version and by choosing the Intel and NVIDIA couple. The screen also supports both G-Sync and FreeSync.
