Britney Spears: Guardianship remains unchanged

Britney Spears doesn't want her father to act as guardian again. A final decision will be a long time coming.

When it comes to guardianship, everything remains the same for the pop star Britney Spears (38, "Baby One More Time"). This is reported by the US celebrity portal "TMZ". The documents submitted to the court are therefore not yet complete. In addition, the only purpose of the first hearing was to discuss how to proceed in the procedure.

Last Wednesday (August 19) it became known that Spears is taking legal action against her father as a new guardian. As the "People" magazine reported, Spears filed an application in court on Tuesday to prevent her father Jamie Spears (68) from taking over her guardianship again. She is "decidedly against", it is said in the document.

According to "TMZ", however, additional, currently missing documents must be submitted before the matter even ends up before a judge. That means nothing is going to change for Spears anytime soon.

She wants to have a say again

After an emotional breakdown, Spears has ceased to be in control of her own affairs since 2008. Initially, her lawyer Andrew Wallet and her father took on the responsible task. Last year, Wallet and later Jamie Spears resigned from office. The latter for "personal, health reasons". He turned the task over to professional guardianship expert Jodi Montgomery. She should, according to the singer, continue to take on this role and take care of both her finances and other matters for her.

However, the singer now wants her say a little way back: The administrator should no longer take on the task alone in the future, but rather bring a specialized company trustee at her side. This is due to the changed lifestyle of Spears, who has been able to massively boost her career in recent years. In addition, Spears does not want to be deprived of the right to legally attack the dissolution of the ordered guardianship in the future.
