Never had a unit caused such dissatisfaction over the years on Clash Royale. Introduced to Supercell’s game in September 2017, the Mega-Knight (MK for short) was immediately considered the ultimate legendary card. With a tankiness comparable to that of a PEKKA, the MK is the first unit to have benefited from an impact on deployment and an impossible to cancel jump mechanic.
Even today, whether on reddit or on Twitter, players profusely complain about the omnipotence of the Mega-Knight. But is it really so legit?
Not so strong under his armor
On reddit, the player Coochie Inspector came to the rescue of the Mega Knight, explaining that the card was not only very well balanced, but that it was also not relevant at all at high level. And it is true that despite skills that may seem disarming at first glance, the MK does not scare the pros. Very expensive in elixir, it finds its place in almost no top meta decks, and is hard countr by a large amount of units. coochie inspector does not mince his words: he even declares that “If you can’t counter it, you’re bad at the game.”
In a recent interview between the CWA Youtuber and Supercell, Clash Royale devs amusingly called MK haters “hypocrites”since the card is one of the most requested legendaries with exchange tokens.
At the time of writing, Supercell does not seem to be planning a nerf to the next patch for the Mega-Knight. The editor prefers to look at the Golden Knightanother controversial unit for its mechanics and appearance pay-to-win.
