(Reuters) – Canadian filmmaker Jean-Marc Vallée, author of the film “Dallas Buyers Club” and the series “Big Little Lies”, has died suddenly at the age of 58 at his home near Quebec, announced his death. agent.

Born in Montreal, Jean-Marc Vallée directed his first feature film in 1995, the thriller “Black List” then rose to prominence with the comedy “CRAZY” in 2005 and the drama “Dallas Buyers Club” in 2013, which won actors Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto the Oscar for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor respectively.

Jean-Marc Vallée, who also starred actor Jake Gyllenhaal in the film “Demolition” in 2015, was also writer and director of the series “Big Little Lies” which won eight Emmy Awards in 2017.
