Dr Alex George gives fans tour of resuscitation room as he continues to battle coronavirus

Dr Alex George has shown fans the inside of a resuscitation room as he continues to work on the frontline in the battle against coronavirus.

The 30 year old works as an A&E doctor in a London hospital and has been updating his followers with the latest news about the pandemic.

Love Island star Alex has taken to his YouTube channel to film himself in a resuscitation room, showing his subscribers what happens when a patient falls seriously ill with the deadly bug.

Explaining why he decided to him the video, he wrote to his 59,000 subscribers: “With the Prime Minister Boris Johnson being admitted to the intensive care department with coronavirus, I have had so many questions from you all about what happens to patients who go there.”

He says in the video: “I’m now in the resus department, here’s one of the bays, just to give you an example, obviously there’s not a patient in here at the moment.

“At the back there we’ve got a defibrillator, cardiac monitors and we can observe saturations etc, and we’ve got the oxygen there.

“Around the room we’ve got to be able to have all the equipment we need… this is quite a large space, obviously it won’t show that on the camera, but it’s a space that we can utilise with all the teams that are here to care for the patient.

“I just wanted to give you an idea of what resus really looks like, there’s multiple bays like this and we’ve got a nurse’s desk where we can keep an eye on all the patients as well,” he continued.

Alex also recently spoke on ITV’s Calling Peston podcast last week, the hunky doctor opened up on why he decided to focus on medical work rather than chase fame as a reality star.

“There are risks, I have colleagues who’ve been unwell and off work, I’ve heard of the passing of doctors, nurses and midwives around the UK — it’s awful to hear but we all know there is that risk.”

Alex continued to admit: “As I drive to A&E I often prepare myself mentally for what we’re going to experience, what we’re going to see.

“When you go into those doors you know it’s going to be a difficult scenario that you’re facing, there’s no hiding from that.”
