EcoFlow upgrade deal: discount on PowerStream for existing balcony power plants

BARGAIN

Ecoflow closes the storage gap in the market for balcony power plants and has an immediately available product with the “PowerStream” system. Now there is a 50 euro discount for balcony power plant owners.

New on the market: PowerStream from EcoFlow (Source: Ecoflow)

Balcony power plants are on everyone’s lips. The solutions available on the market so far focus on generating solar power and feeding it into the domestic power grid for immediate consumption.

The vast majority of systems that have already been installed have not yet been connected to storage. Quite a few systems cannot be updated to the feed-in power of 800 instead of 600 watts that will be permitted in the future, one speaks of “updateable inverters”. And unfortunately, the inverter affected by dangerous technical problems is probably also widespread.

This can now be over, because EcoFlow is making an upgrade offer to all owners of balcony power plants: a 50-euro voucher beckons for uploading a photo of the inverter in use. This voucher can then be redeemed when purchasing a PowerStream inverter or a PowerStream bundle.

PowerStream is not affected by the technical problems, the system is prepared for the feed-in of 800 instead of 600 watts – and PowerStream can even bring the storage with it if required.

As a test, we went through the process for requesting the voucher. The “Application for issuing a voucher code” was accepted without verification and the generated voucher code appears to be valid for all orders: PWSUP50.

Your application has been approved. You have received a €50 voucher that can be used to purchase a PowerStream microinverter or PowerStream bundles.

Balcony power plants with storage in comparison
From Anker, Zendure and EcoFlow

The costs for balcony power plants and storage are falling, and now the combination of both is becoming attractive in terms of price. We show the first off-the-shelf solutions.

How does EcoFlow’s “PowerStream” work?

The amount of energy that exceeds your own consumption “disappears” in balcony power plants via the power line in the public grid of the energy supplier, there is no remuneration for the feed-in. At the same time, the solar system on your own balcony only supplies electrical energy when the sun is shining. When it is dark, the energy that was previously fed in for free has to be “bought back” from the supplier at great expense.

EcoFlow fills this gap with the combination of energy generation and storage called “PowerStream”: A smart inverter distributes the energy, supplies the consumers connected in the house and feeds the excess energy into an intermediate storage unit. The energy can then be withdrawn from this temporary store again when required. This solves a major problem for operators of solar systems: Where does the electricity come from when the sun isn’t shining?

Clever in the details

That alone is innovative, but there are other companies working on such solutions, such as Zendure. EcoFlow used the somewhat longer development time to equip the system with further clever details that make the system unique.

Updateable inverter

On the one hand, the inverter is designed with a maximum feed-in power of 600 watts so that it does not exceed the current limit for feeding mini-PV systems into the domestic power grid. At the same time, the inverter is prepared to feed in 800 watts instead of 600 watts later after a software update, as soon as the legal framework allows. The industry expects such a decision in the next few months and very few balcony power plants can be updated so far.

Mobile power storage

On the other hand, the power storage used in the PowerStream from EcoFlow is not just a stationary energy storage device, but a mobile power station. The investment in the balcony power plant is also an investment in a mobile power supply: if necessary, you can also be supplied with energy when camping, in the garden and in the workshop.

With an app, the system can not only be controlled and monitored, but also “smart plugs” (intelligent sockets) in the household can be switched on and off in a targeted manner so that devices with the availability of solar power are switched on and off.

Assemble PowerStream flexibly from building blocks

“PowerStream”, solar panel and power station can be purchased on the website in recommended configurations or put together as you like and bought individually. The highlight is the complete package with 2 kWh storage and plug-in balcony power plant:

In particular, the system with the Delta Max 2 as system storage and mobile everyday helper offers an attractive price at first glance, sufficient storage volume for the dark hours of the day and at the same time for extensive outdoor activities such as garden parties, camping or fishing trips.

However, EcoFlow also offers solutions with storage only for owners of a balcony power station, as well as a solution without storage for owners of a compatible power station.
