Evil Dead Rise: Sam Raimi’s cult franchise resurrects with a very gory trailer

If you are in the middle of a meal, stop there. Evil Dead Risethe next film in Sam Raimi’s cult horror franchise (Darkmanthe first trilogy Spiderman), has just unveiled its first trailer. On the program: violent, bloody and possessed mom. The film will be released in cinemas on April 19.

Evil comes to town

This new component derived from the classic Sam Raimi changes the formula a bit, and moves away from the traditional isolated cabin in the woods to invest the urban environment, the city of Los Angeles in this case.

Evil Dead Rise thus tells the story of two separated sisters who see their reunion interrupted by the appearance of flesh-eating demons. These will push them against each other, in a primitive battle for their survival. In these images, fans ofevil Dead will have recognized the Necronomicon, the famous demonic book of the franchise.

Evil Dead Rise is the fifth installment in the franchise initiated by Sam Raimi, following the original 1981 film, Evil Dead II in 1987, Evil Dead 3: Army of Darkness in 1992, and the excellent remake evil Dead by Fede Alvarez released in 2013. This fifth film is produced by Sam Raimi himself, and written and directed by Lee Cronin. This young Irish filmmaker signed the hailed short film Ghost Train (2014), the movie The Hole in the Ground (2019), as well as two episodes of the horror series 50 States of Fright (2020).

Known for his scenes gory but also its cartoonish humor, the horror franchise has acquired great popularity over the decades, becoming cult thanks to the charisma of its main protagonist, Ash Williams, played by Bruce Campbell. This one was also the star of the series Ash Vs. Evil Dead, broadcast from 2015 to 2018 on OCS, and available today on Netflix. To note that Evil Dead 2 is also visible on myCanal, the Canal+ streaming platform.

In addition to this trailer, a poster has also been unveiled. Evil Dead Rise will be released in French theaters on April 19.
