A planned “Fantastic Four” reboot has found another important character. Julia Garner is set to play Silver Surfer.

Numerous series stars are set to help the long-established superhero team regain its shine on the big screen with a new “The Fantastic Four” film adaptation from Marvel Studios. Another role is apparently being filled with a top-class star by a well-known series actress. Julia Garner (30) – three Emmys for “Ozark” – becomes Shalla-Bal, a version of the Silver Surfer, like that, among others Industry portal “The Hollywood Reporter” reports.

“Fantastic Four”: Series stars do the honors

Garner would thus join an illustrious list of leading actors and actresses. Pedro Pascal (49), known from “Game of Thrones” and “The Last of Us”, among others, is not only one of the hottest Hollywood stars in recent years, he also plays Reed Richards aka Mr. Fantastic. Vanessa Kirby (35, “The Crown”) plays Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn (30, “Stranger Things”) becomes Johnny Storm/The Torch and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (47, “The Bear”) plays Ben Grimm /The thing. Marvel Studios had the main cast confirmed in February.

Nothing is known about the plot of the new film yet. According to the industry magazine, however, there are rumors that the reboot will be set in the 1960s – the decade in which the superhero group first appeared. Eric Pearson (39), who, among other things, also wrote the script for “Black Widow” from 2021, is responsible for the script.

Matt Shakman (48), who also has Marvel experience, will direct. He was responsible as director for all episodes of the MCU series “WandaVision”. The cinema release is scheduled for July 25, 2025.
