After their passage in season 3 of The Voice, which marked the victory of Kendji Girac, the Fréro Delavega have not stopped talking about them. And until they separated in 2018, the two singers occupied all the space available on music radio stations. So successful that one of the band members, Florian Garcia, chose to leave the ship. Today, his former sidekick Jérémy Frérot leads a solo career, while leading a peaceful life in the Landes countryside. Friday, June 26, 2020, the 33-year-old musician welcomed our colleagues from Parisian in its green haven. After his experience in the spotlight, Flo Delavega wanted to retire to calm. Became a father for the first time in January 2018, he now lives with his partner Natalia Doco and their son Santi.
“Maybe we will sing again one day”
“Arresting the Freros was not an easy decision, as it involved Jerem and a lot of people, but it was vital for me. I knew that I was experiencing something exceptional, but I had entered into a cog that was going too fast. I saw myself bitter with the fans and the media, I had pain everywhere, tendonitis on the shoulders. My body was telling me to stop ”, explains the young artist. Because yes, the decision to dissolve the group came entirely from him. His ex-partner, Jérémy Frérot, had on several occasions returned to the brutal end of the duo. “He felt stuck. He thought he couldn't get his messages across. You have to be lucid: Fréro Delavega was a product and for it to work, you had to play the game. Flo couldn't stand it. Our duo was at odds with our beliefs, after a while it fell apart ”he said then in the columns of Gala. After this period, Florian Garcia chose to stop the music completely.
Today, the singer decided to go back to it, but solo. This is howhe just released a brand new single, Eternal spring, which will be part of an album scheduled for the end of the year. Six songs have so far been recorded in his barn with the help of Thierry De Cara, former producer of Fréro Delavega. And when he reconnects with music, why not reconnect with his faithful pair? “We took different paths, but we obviously stay in touch”, assures Florian Garcia. “On his tour, he invited me twice on stage, to La Cigale and to Luxey, near here. I hesitated and I took a super kif ”, he remembers. And the musician would not be against the idea of reforming the duo … if the opportunity arises. “One day we may sing again, life will tell us”, he says. For Flo, nothing is ever really sure: “I realized that I have always operated in cycles, like nature. I was soccer, I played at a very good level, I stopped. I was a sports teacher, I stopped … Even this solo project, I know it will come to an end. " So in the meantime, listen, maybe the music of the Delavega Brothers will one day surface!
