Galaxy S20 FE: Samsung’s bestseller totals 10 million sales

The Galaxy S20 FE has been a resounding success and Samsung would like to repeat the test with its next model. But his schedule of outings could well put him in the wheels.

The Covid-19 pandemic and the semiconductor crisis have not prevented Samsung from selling its smartphones. The South Korean firm has notably been able to count on the Galaxy S20 FE to boost its sales. This model, supposed to offer the best of the S20 range for a more affordable price (659 € in 4G and 759 € in 5G when they were released), has been a huge success.

In any case, this is what the 9to5Google site reveals. During an email exchange with the company, they learned that more than 10 million Galaxy S20 FEs were sold between the last quarter of 2020 and the end of 2021. According to the manufacturer’s statement, this smartphone therefore constitutes “one of Samsung’s best sellers in recent years”.

Compared to the S21 range, this figure is even more impressive. Last summer, the Business Post site indicated that 13.5 million smartphones from the Galaxy S21 range had found buyers. This means that the FE version alone has largely held its rank.

We therefore better understand why the S21 FE was born despite the context. Samsung had left in doubt about the release of this model due to the lack of components, but the success of the previous one must have convinced it.

The Galaxy S21 range.

However, this new version will have a lot to do to achieve the same performance. Indeed, the delay caused by the various crises risks putting the S21 FE in competition with the next S22 range, very probably presented in February.

Indeed, the S21 FE is available at 759 € in its 6/128 GB version (829 € for the 8/256 GB configuration). A price similar to that of the S20 FE when it was released. The Galaxy S22 must therefore stand out sufficiently from the latter to justify its purchase.

The Galaxy S21 range must not take the rug out from under it either. Because it is now easy to find a Galaxy S21 (launched at 859 € at the time) at a discounted price, sometimes even cheaper than the FE version, supposed to be less premium. Samsung seems to have understood this, and the S21 and S21 + are already no longer available on the official website. But merchants wishing to sell their stocks will continue to offer it. Let’s wait and see if this Fan Edition will find its place among these two generations.
