In 2020 the strip “Greenland” was one of the few films to be released in cinemas. Now a sequel with Gerard Butler is to be created.

A sequel to the 2020 disaster film “Greenland” with Gerard Butler (51) and Morena Baccarin (42) in the lead roles is in the works according to several US media. The duo will, according to “The Hollywood Reporter” be seen again as the married couple John and Allison Garrity in the sequel. Butler also acts as one of the producers of the strip, it goes on to say.

Filming will begin in 2022

The plan is to shoot “Greenland 2” in 2022. Ric Roman Waugh (53) is to take over the direction again. The film follows on from the events from part one, in which a comet impact in Europe wiped out large parts of humanity. In the sequel, the Garrity family has to leave the security of an air raid shelter on Greenland and go in search of a new home through the impassable wasteland.

In 2020, “Greenland” was one of the few films that found its way into German cinemas during the corona pandemic. From October to the beginning of November, when the cinemas across Germany had to close again, the blockbuster could be seen in this country.
