Grey's Anatomy: will the series of doctors be extended by two more seasons?

Doesn't the "Grey's Anatomy" series of doctors end after season 17? Three leading actors have reportedly extended their contracts by several years.

So far, only the upcoming 17th season has been officially confirmed for the popular American doctor series "Grey's Anatomy". But apparently those responsible are planning even more episodes. As the US industry journal "Deadline" wants to know, three leading actors, whose contracts expired at the end of season 16, have agreed on new deals for another three years. This is to indicate that the US broadcaster ABC and the production team of ABC Studios want to continue the drama series beyond season 17.

Ellen Pompeo has it in hand

According to the "Deadline", actors Kim Raver (51), Camilla Luddington (36) and Kevin McKidd (46) have received new contracts. McKidd has been Dr. To see Owen Hunt. Kim Raver aka Dr. Teddy Altman was part of the cast from season six to eight, then paused and occasionally returned in season 14 before returning to the main cast in season 15. The characters Teddy Altman and Owen Hunt have a child together. Camilla Luddington has been playing Dr. Jo Wilson, who was in season 16 by husband Dr. Alex Karev will leave as actor Justin Chambers (50) surprisingly stepped out of the series.

However, it is not yet certain whether these new three-year contracts actually mean that "Grey's Anatomy" will also get an 18th and 19th season. The contract of Star Ellen Pompeo (50), who since the first episode Dr. Meredith Gray is playing, is expected to end in season 17. If Pompeo does not extend it, it is likely that "Grey's Anatomy" will also end. As recently as January of this year, ABC President Karey Burke said on the Television Critics Association press tour: "'Grays Anatomy' will continue to exist as long as Ellen (Pompeo, editor's note) is interested in Meredith Gray play."

Two new protagonists for season 17

For season 17, two actors have recently been promoted to the main cast. Richard Flood (38) was in several episodes of season 16 as Dr. See Cormac Hayes, the new head of pediatric surgery. His role is expanded as well as that of Anthony Hill. He played Dr. Winston Ndugu. He met Dr. in the episode at a conference Maggie Pierce (Kelly McCreary, 38). The two know each other from before.

Season 16 "Grey's Anatomy" was shorter than planned due to the corona crisis. The 21st episode aired in the US as a final, although more episodes were planned. Filming for season 17 is scheduled to begin soon. It is known that the series of doctors will deal with the corona pandemic in the new episodes.
