At the end of last December, the lawyer Sylvie Noachovitch, who speaks in the program of Julien Courbet It can happen to you, found herself in spite of herself at the heart of a hostage-taking in Paris. She recounts this incredible experience and gives the details of her intervention alongside the BRI.
The period preceding the end of the year celebrations was marked by a hostage-taking, between Monday 20 and Tuesday 21 December. A 56-year-old man has kidnapped a mother, a hardware store manager, and her daughter in his Parisian business. After 17 hours of anguish, the individual finally released his two hostages, without being injured. He was immediately arrested by the police and an investigation was subsequently opened, in particular to “kidnapping with multiple victims”. During the long and tedious task of the BRI (Research and Intervention Brigade, editor’s note), the madman, who claimed to have been poisoned by his doctor and whose psychiatric profile remains to be precisely determined, wished to speak with a negotiator not entirely unknown to the general public.

He indeed claimed the lawyer Sylvie Noachovitch. In addition to being the defender of former gardener Omar Raddad, she is one of the show’s flagship mediators. It can happen to you, hosted by Julien Courbet on M6 and RTL. In the columns of the magazine Star TV, the penalist confides: “I never imagined that my notoriety would one day serve me in this way”. She summarizes what happened and what was her role during the hostage-taking: “This man who held two women was in great pain (…) I first managed to calm him down on the phone until he hung up on me. I remained at the BRI’s disposal. until the end, in case he wants to talk to me again “.

Me Sylvie Noachovitch, more used to scams “ordinary” when she deals with files broadcast on the air, she has nevertheless seen others. The one who says she is completely intolerant of injustice recalls that she lives regularly “incredible things”. In her most memorable memories, she also cites two examples that she had discussed in It can happen to you, a meeting that she finally judges “of public utility” : “I keep in mind this mother whose child was taken from a nursery and who was able to find her son who had become an adult thanks to the program. Or this nurse, victim of identity theft, whose life has become a hell”.
