instructions for beautiful feet!

What could be prettier than bare, perfectly manicured feet when the sandals are finally out? Worthy of a fashion accessory, the nail polish on the feet is of paramount importance. The proof below.

The beautiful days are coming (yes, yes, it is promised) and failing to be able to remove the mask immediately, the feet are gradually stripped. Do you know the expression “to be beautiful from head to toe”? It does not come from nowhere but because the feet are of paramount importance in terms of beauty. And all the more so when the temperatures rise. But after having been set aside for the whole winter, we will have to give them our full attention so that they can become guns again. Manicure, exfoliation, hydration and choice of color … to sport perfect, manicured feet and master the application of varnish without spilling it all over the place, here are all our tips.

Step one: pretty feet mission activated

Often neglected, the feet would however need care throughout the year and not only when they are out! If you can’t afford a pedicure and pamper yourself in a salon, there’s nothing stopping you from taking some time at home. Their particularly thick skin (up to ten times thicker than that of the face) is subjected to constant friction from socks and shoes. The feet are also locked up for many hours without being in the open air and support all our weight. No wonder the skin is harder and more damaged. And without care, calluses quickly arrived.

Exfoliate the skin
What should you do to keep your feet soft? The exfoliation, once a week that we forget all too often and which is a great classic of a successful beauty routine. Yet it is a key step in a good pedicure. If you don’t have an exfoliator handy in your bathroom (a body scrub does fine), take a peek in your kitchen. You can use a vegetable oil such as olive oil and replace the grains with coarse salt or sugar. Mechanical exfoliation is preferred on the feet because some areas require more emphasis (such as the heel) when others are more sensitive. After soaking your feet for a few minutes in lukewarm water, apply the texture to the feet and massage in a circular fashion, paying particular attention to the heel, cracks and calluses (if there are any) then rinse. Once the feet are dry, remember to hydrate them and nourish them with a suitable cream. Repeat the operation regularly, after a few weeks the difference will be visible.

Trim nails
Cut the nails then file them (always in one direction, without going back and forth). Also massage the nails regularly with a little oil to nourish them and avoid hard cuticles that are too present.

Step two: find the right texture

While matt-textured varnishes are very chic, they are not necessarily suitable for the feet. Since the weather is nice and the feet are in plain sight, take the opportunity to test glossy varnishes that perfectly reflect the light, or creamy ones, ultra easy to use. If you are going on vacation, why not use a semi-permanent gel polish that is more “long lasting” than a classic polish? It will last a good week and withstand all tests. On the composition side, many brands like Kure Bazaar, pioneers in the field, are now reviewing their formulas to get rid of toxic substances and thus preserve our good health.

Step three: choose the right color

As with any manicure, before applying color, always apply a base coat to protect the nails from pigments. And if the idea of choosing a color from the huge range that brands offer gives you palpitations, here are some tips to find the one you need.

First: as with your makeup, take your outfit into account when choosing the shade. It is necessary that the nail polish goes well with it without making a monochrome look. Light or pastel tones such as pink, beige, champagne, quite easy to combine, will be perfect on dark and / or tanned skin. Zero risk colors? Black or red always at the forefront of the trend. Certainly classic, these shades are always chic and will highlight your feet. White can also easily be combined with a whole range of shades. If you want to have a neat look without showing off a flashy red, avoid the slightly old-fashioned French manicure and prefer a neutral shade. And if you master nail art, don’t hesitate to play with a few colors!

Should we combine the nail polish on the feet with that on the hands?
Putting the same color on the fingernails and toenails is a safe bet, without taking any risks. On the other hand, it is quite possible to have fun and choose two different colors. Either by remaining in the same shades, ie by taking two different shades of the same color such as a light pink and a dark rosé. Either by playing on contrasts with black and orange for example. The bad taste to avoid? The mixture of hot and cold colors.

Step five: apply it well on the toenails

For beautiful feet, nail addicts know all the good application tips. Don’t panic, we’ll share our tips with you to avoid spilling varnish or toes sticking together.

First of all, plan a good fifteen minutes quiet, in order to take the time necessary for a successful pedicure. Then equip yourself with a foam toe spreader, easy to find in supermarkets or in delivery on Amazon to keep the toes stable and apart during the polish break. Then apply a transparent base. You can choose it hardening, enriched with serum or even yellowing. There are a lot of products to treat specific nail problems or to boost nail growth. One coat is enough. Your nails are now ready to receive two coats of the color of your choice. Place the brush with a little product (but not too much) in the center of the nail then carefully fill the toenail with color from the bottom up. Pay attention to the edges. Some professional manicurists prefer to leave a little space, others fill up to the skin but respect the rule of never going to the cuticles. Whichever you choose, be careful not to overflow. In case of burrs, keep a solvent and a cotton swab or better: a small brush, more ecological in order to clean the outline of the nail. Finish your pedicure with a top coat to protect the varnish, prolong its hold and make it shine to the maximum.
