Juliette Binoche penniless: she rarely evokes her difficult beginnings in the profession

Invited this Friday, January 21, on the Canal + program En aparté, Juliette Binoche returned with emotion to her difficult beginnings as an actress.

It is a harsh universe in which it is good to assert oneself. Juliette Binoche never lacked the courage to break into the cinema, and knew how to impose herself from the age of 18. However, the actress confessed that it was not always easy to “to survive” at that time because she was struggling to earn a living.

So it’s during the show As an aside broadcast unencrypted on Canal + this Friday, January 21 that the 57-year-old actress confided. While she could review archives of past castings in her youth, the actress commented on these excerpts at the request of Nathalie Levy, the voice of the program.

“I had to survive”

It is with emotion and sincerity that Juliette Binoche put these images in their context while explaining her living conditions at that time: “I didn’t know what I was going to do yet. I didn’t know if I was going to paint or rather be an actress, but I’m thinking about this little top I have. It’s the only thing I really had to go to my castings, I had no clothes, I had no money.”

The Oscar-winning actress then went on to recount her ways of “survival” : “I had to work at the BHV as a cashier. My mother had paid for my theater lessons in first but that’s all. I had to survive. I had an Italian lover with whom I lived and who was actually super generous with me. I remember that more than what I said. Doing the castings, it was difficult, you had to be true and at the same time survive.”

A beautiful life lesson that encourages you to fight for what you want and never give up on a lifelong dream.
