Karl Lagerfeld: Munich start-up hires Choupette the cat as an advertising face

Will the Birman cat Choupette become an advertising star? A Munich start-up has now hired the four-legged friend from star designer Karl Lagerfeld.

The cat life of Karl Lagerfeld's (1933-2019) darling Choupette recently joined an advertising deal with a start-up from Munich. The two founders Sebastian Frank and Dr. Mathias Wahrenberger has succeeded in winning the late star designer's Birman cat for her brand. "What sounds like a fairy tale has become our reality," it says on their website.

LucyBalu, founded in 2019, was very lucky. At the beginning of 2020, the two men sent a request to Choupette's agent and their cat hammock to Françoise Caçote, Lagerfeld's former housekeeper, who took the four-legged friend in with her. According to the founders, the cat accepted the product immediately and the advertising deal was perfect. In the summer they traveled to Paris to photograph Choupette in their familiar surroundings. "It was the first time anyone outside of Choupette's family was allowed to take photos and videos in their new home."

Logo reminds of "Father Karl"

The cooperation with the Munich start-up was announced on the official Instagram profile of the Birman cat Choupette last week. "I'm going to start my very first collaboration soon," said a photo of the cat, which was supplemented by the Munich manufacturer's logo. It is based "on the handwriting of my father Karl".
