Les Pennac(s) on France 3: will the detective series have a season 2?

Latest new investigations, this Tuesday evening, for the Pennac father and daughter, played by Christian Rauth and Julie-Anne Roth. Before a return soon for a season 2? Response elements.

Two years after the broadcast of their first investigation, Les Pennac(s) returned this month for six new cases, the last two of which can be discovered this Tuesday, February 27 at 9:10 p.m. on France 3.

Father and daughter investigate

The Pennac(s) tells, as a reminder, the story of Hannibal (Christian Rauth), an absent father and grandfather who would like to make up for his mistakes, and his daughter Annabelle (Julie-Anne Roth), who holds him responsible for all her problems, notably her dyslexia, which she tries as best she can to hide.

One day, the police captain is entrusted with the direction of a research unit in the city where her father was also a police officer before her. Due to a lack of sufficient personnel, the police decide to call on reservists, including… Hannibal. The retiree takes the opportunity to insert himself into each of his daughter’s investigations. A lively reunion awaits father and daughter, especially since both have their own methods.

An audience success confirmed by the first season

In terms of audiences, if the first season of the detective series was a success, it is, however, below the success encountered by the pilot episode. On January 18, 2022, the TV film entitled “Un resemblance de famille” attracted 4.1 million people, or 19.1% of the public in front of their screen that evening.

Since mid-February, the first four episodes of season 1 have attracted between 3 and 3.65 million people, or between 16.6 and 18.4% market share. Scores allowing France 3 to oscillate between first and second place in the audiences.

An interest, nevertheless, confirmed in replay : approximately 480,000 additional people caught up with the first two episodes in the week following their broadcast on the air.

What motivates France 3 to order a new season? Contacted by Allociné, the channel’s management ensures that the question of a possible renewal of its detective series has not yet been addressed and decided.

In the meantime, the last two unpublished episodes of season 1 of Pennac(s) can be discovered this Tuesday, February 27 at 9:10 p.m. on France 3. Previous episodes can also be (re)watched online on france.tv.
