Playing League of Legends well is an art. The best players in the world are not there by chance and if they win big tournaments, it’s because in addition to having a lot of talent, they work a lot. Just look at the latest MSI to be convinced. Despite a very complicated context, the RNG Chinese ended up winning in the grand final against the Koreans of T1. Success was not necessarily expected and many had predicted a victory for Faker at home.
The celebration champions was a bit cheap on the official stream, especially because the players weren’t there. Stranded in Shanghai and confined due to the health situation, we have seen better as an explosion of joy. To make up for it, the LPL still wanted to congratulate the team by creating a work of art of precision and beauty. pixel-perfect.
A somewhat special painting to congratulate RNG
The LPL commissioned an artist “painter“to create a work of art worthy of the performance of RNG, the only structure to have won 3 MSI. It’s unheard of and the statistics get even crazier if we talk about Xiaohu (MID) and Ming (Support), who have been crowned three times. But beware, the painter in question did not take out a canvas or gouache, but sand for a session of “sand painting“high in color. This practice consists of bringing together sands and pigments of different colors to create paintings, generally ephemeral and evolving. Practiced by different peoples (native Americans, Tibetans, Australian Indigenous people…), this practice has notably been popularized and democratized by contest shows on television (America’s Got Talent).
To celebrate the RNG title, YouTube channel LPL English filmed the process. The artist has chained the scenes, all more incredible precision than each other. The video speaks for itself but on our side, we particularly appreciated the details of the trophy.
A video that will not make you forget the somewhat low-cost celebration
Even if we appreciated this little work of art, we can’t help pointing out the low-cost celebration which took place after RNG’s victory. As a reminder, the team stayed in Shanghai and played the competition remotely, which caused a lot of controversy around the ping. The health situation in China is much more complicated in China and players are strictly confined… They can’t go outside and for their victory, there was no clubbing or restaurant planned: only a food delivery.
For the victory, we only had the right to a few confetti and a trophy lifting… We weren’t there and we don’t have the information. But the latter seemed a bit fake. We imagine it was a copy and given that the original was in Busan, the official venue of the competition.
